The City of Kitchener is seeking an experienced Utilities Engineer to join our Utilities Team.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS.ALL APPLICANTS FOR THIS COMPETITION...
1.      Must be reliable with good attitude and employment record.
2.      Must successfully complete a medical examination if required.
3.      Must have the ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
4.      Must possess a P.Eng designation from the Professional Engineers Association of Ontario, in good standing
5.      Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in: project management: coordinating multiple projects through the design phase, design / preparation / interpretation of engineering plan and profile drawings, design and inspection procedures, infrastructure systems with solid understanding of technical terms related to Civil Engineering (water and natural gas), design and construction methods and practices.
6.      Must be an effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in working with engineers, consultants, senior management, contractors, council, members of the public and staff.
7.      Must have proficient computer skills and aptitude utilizing Microsoft Office and infrastructure management programs
8.      Must have demonstrated experience & management skills to successfully lead a staff team.
9.      Must have strong mathematical  and analytical skills
10.  Must have the ability to be an effective team member and lead project teams as necessary
11.  Must have proven problem solving capabilities with an attention to detail
12.  Must possess a valid MTO Class ''G'' driver's license in good standing and a personal vehicle which can be used for City business.
13.  Must act as designated on-call emergency manager (24hrs/day, approximately 13 weeks/year) for water and/or natural gas-related emergencies.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
The primary responsibility of this position is tocomplete design and oversee the installation of natural gas mains/services and provide design/construction support for water main construction projects.  Other duties include, administering the natural gas installation contract, visit construction sites and attend site meetings (natural gas and water), liaise with consultants and contractors regarding natural gas and water design and construction, review water related design and construction submissions, provide natural gas/water comments to various City departments relating to site plans, municipal consents, capital forecasts, assist with development of various procedures as related to regulatory requirements (natural gas and water).
Salary: Grade M1   $70,974 - $88,718      (Under Review)
