The City of Kitchener is seeking an experienced Engineering Construction Inspector to join our Engineering Team.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS.  ALL APPLICANTS FOR THIS COMPETITION...
1.       Must be reliable with good attitude and employment record.
2.       Must successfully complete a medical examination if required.
3.       Must have the ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
4.       Must have a minimum 3-year degree/diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
5.       Must have a minimum of 2 years' related work experience in civil engineering construction inspection.
6.       Must be registered Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians (OACETT).
7.       Must be an effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with engineers, contractors, consultants, members of senior management, council and the public, with matters arising from development projects.
8.       Must be able to interpret engineering drawings, prepare technical reports and prepare payment certificates for contract works.
9.       Must possess knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations and Provincial Standards and Specifications for design and construction, as well as Canadian Safety Association specifications (e.g., concrete, asphalt, granular materials).
10.   Must possess knowledge of related Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of the Environment standards and specifications, as well as Traffic Control Manual-Book 7.
11.   Must possess knowledge of legal survey data and topographical surveying.
12.   Must have demonstrated skills in the use of a computer utilizing programs such as Word, Excel, or AutoCAD.
13.   Must have an MTO Class ''G'' driver's license in good standing and use of a personal vehicle for city business.
14.   Must have the ability to participate as an effective team member.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
The primary responsibility of this position is to take a lead role in the construction inspection of the Subdivisions/Site Plans/Development Charge projects, which includes road construction, watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer construction and replacements, sanitary sewer main/service extension and rehabilitation using trenchless technologies, pumping station upgrades, total reconstruction of streets including surface and subsurface infrastructure, and streetscape improvements, sidewalk installations and repairs,. Other duties will include assisting in the development of contract specifications, quantity estimates and tender preparations, Letter of Credit reduction process and associated site inspection and approvals.
Salary: $58,805 - $73,506 per annum
