Do I need an advisor?
Everyone can benefit from sound financial planning. And a plan is not a one-time event. As your needs evolve over time, you will need to adjust your plan to suit your current situation and stage in life.
An advisor can help you:
  • Assess your current situation by examining your finances in detail.
  • Set achievable financial goals, identify opportunities and develop a realistic plan to meet those goals.
  • Understand how government programs and employee pension plans fit within your overall financial plan.
  • Put your plan into action and monitor its progress.
  • Revise your plan to accommodate changes in your goals.
Finding the right advisor
You don’t have to settle for the first advisor you meet and you certainly shouldn’t work with someone who makes you feel uncomfortable. After all, if you’re not happy talking about your finances with your advisor, you’re not talking to the right person.
We recommend that you do a little homework to find a qualified professional who you will feel comfortable working with:
  • Think about your own goals, financial obligations and what's important to you.
  • Don't allow yourself to be hurried.  Ensure you are being heard.
  • Ask them hard questions.
  • Ask for references or testimonials from the advisor’s existing clients to find out about their quality of service.
